The Chat feature is a great way to communicate with your workforce. It allows you to keep company communication in one place through individual chats, team chats, and channels.
Groups let you communicate with multiple people in one conversation — a team, a project, a location, or anyone you want to keep in the loop. Every group has one setting that controls who can post: Allow members to send messages.
Leave it on when you want everyone in the group to send and reply to messages.
Turn it off when you want only admins to post — useful for announcements that should stay visible and not get buried under replies.
How to Create a Group on Desktop
Navigate to the Chat feature.
Click Add New and select New Group.
Enter the group's name and description.
On the Group Details page, set Allow members to send messages on or off depending on whether you want everyone or only admins to post.
If you'd like admin messages to appear without a sender name, enable Show admins as anonymous.
Assign the group to Smart Groups, Selected Users, or both.
Select the group's admins.
Review the summary and click Confirm.
💡 Pro tip: You can change any of these settings at any time by opening the group settings — including turning member messaging on or off.

Examples of Groups With Member Messaging Turned Off
Important company announcements and policies — share updates without replies so messages stay visible and easy to find.
Daily road closures — give drivers route updates in a dedicated space where critical information won't get buried.
Industry regulations — share compliance information users may need to reference later.
Critical emergency alerts — distribute urgent information quickly without interruptions.
💡Pro tip: You can edit these settings at any time by opening the group settings.
