Easily Visualize and Manage Your Team's Structure with the Org Chart

In the fast-paced world of modern business, keeping track of your team structure should be effortless. Connecteam's Organizational Chart makes it simple by providing a clear, centralized view of your company's hierarchy that helps streamline employee management.

The Org Chart works seamlessly with your existing User Profile Fields, automatically generating an easy-to-follow visual representation of your company structure. This feature is particularly valuable for larger organizations where managing complex team structures can be challenging. A clear, visual layout of your hierarchy, helps managers and HR teams efficiently oversee their workforce. Managers can also use it as a helpful resource when onboarding new employees, making it easier to explain the company's structure and facilitate effective collaboration.

How to Activate the Org Chart Feature

Navigate to the left sidebar click on the + Add New feature button and select Org Chart. Press Let's get started, and your chart will be ready to view.

The Org Chart is based on the Direct Manager field for each user you’ve previously set in the account, along with other information stored in their User Profile Fields. If certain employees don’t have a Direct Manager assigned, a window will appear during activation, allowing you to assign a Direct Manager directly from there. Once activated, the Org Chart will display your company’s organizational structure, reflecting the hierarchy you’ve defined using the Direct Manager field.

Please note: Only owners can activate the Org Chart feature. Once activated, all admins assigned to this feature will have visibility of all users in the account, regardless of their other Admin Permissions.

Understanding Your Org Chart

Employee Cards in the Org Chart

Each employee card in the Org Chart will, by default, display the employee’s name, title & number of direct and indirect Reports. For example, Sara Kay, the CEO, is managing 17 people, 4 of them directly.

Customizing Card Information

You can customize the additional information shown on the employee card, such as their role or location, or any other User Profile Fields. You have the option to customize up to two layers of information for display, ensuring the chart suits your organization’s needs.

To Customize the Employee Card Info in the Org Chart, Follow These Steps:

  1. Head to the top left of the Org Chart and click on Card Info.

  2. A menu will appear with User Details. By default, the employee’s full name will be displayed.

  3. To customize additional layers, toggle on the First Info Layer and select the category you want to display from the dropdown menu (e.g., role, department, location). Repeat this for the Second Info Layer if needed.

Once you’ve selected the desired layers, the information will automatically display on the employee’s card in the Org Chart.

**Customizable employee cards are available only on the Advanced Plan and above**

Navigating the Org Chart

To navigate the Org Chart, use the options in the top-left corner:

  • Focus on Me: Click to go directly to your card.

  • Zoom In/Out: Adjust the view to your preference.

  • Collapse All: Minimize the chart for a clearer overview.

Quick Actions from the Employee Card

  1. Open the Org Chart and navigate to the employee card you want to update.

  2. Click on the three dots in the top-right corner of the card.

  3. From here, you can access several quick actions, such as:

    • Updating the user profile

    • Assigning or updating the Direct Manager

    • Starting a chat with your employee

This way, you can easily update an employee’s profile picture or quickly assign or update their Direct Manager.

How to Export Your Org Chart

To export the Org Chart as a PNG, ideal for presentations, simply click on the export icon in the top-right corner and download the chart.
