With Shift Attendance Status, admins can mark whether a user arrived on time, was late, called out, or did not show up. This keeps attendance information connected to the shift, so you can manage coverage and review attendance without relying only on the original schedule.
Please Note: Note: This feature is being slowly released and may not appear in your account yet.
Attendance statuses
You can assign one of four statuses:
On Time — The user showed up as scheduled.
Late In — The user arrived late without a valid excuse.
Callout — The user notified you before the shift that they would not come in.
No Show — The user did not come in and gave no advance notice.
Mark an attendance status
You can mark attendance from:
3. Open the shift and select Mark Attendance Status, then choose the relevant status.
4. For Late In, Callout, and No Show, a pop-up lets you add a reason or note.
For On Time, the status is applied immediately.
What happens after a No Show or Callout
When you mark a user as No Show or Callout, they are unassigned from the shift. Their attendance status remains visible in the shift activity.
What happens to the shift depends on the assignment:
If the user was the only person assigned, the shift becomes a draft and moves to the unassigned shifts row. You can then find new coverage.
If it is a group shift, the shift stays published for the other assigned users.
Deleting the shift does not remove a recorded No Show or Callout status.
Edit or delete a Callout
You can update or remove a Callout directly from the schedule.
Find the Callout on the shift and click the three dots. From there, you can choose to Edit or Delete it.
You can also hover over the Callout to see more information, including the note and the relevant shift details. This gives you the context you need to review the Callout and keep the shift record accurate.
Edit or clear an attendance status
You can update an attendance status from the shift’s Activity tab.
Find the attendance status and click the pencil icon. From there, you can:
Clear status to remove the attendance status.
Edit details to update the information added to the status.
Change status to select a different attendance status.
This keeps attendance records accurate while preserving the shift activity in one place.
Where attendance statuses appear
You can review attendance statuses directly from the schedule.
In Day and Week views, the status appears on the shift. On Time does not have a separate indication.
In List View, when viewing by users, attendance statuses appear as columns. These columns turn on automatically after at least one attendance status has been marked.
The attendance status columns are also included in the export.
Track attendance activity
Every change to an attendance status is recorded in the shift’s activity log.
This gives admins a clear record of what was updated and when, so attendance history stays connected to the relevant shift.
FAQs
Can users see their attendance status?
No. Attendance statuses are currently visible to admins only. Users do not see whether they were marked as On Time, Late In, Callout, or No Show.
Do attendance statuses affect scheduled labor and cost data?
On Time, No Show, and Callout are not counted in scheduled labor and cost data.
Does marking a user as Late In affect scheduled labor and cost data?
The current guidance only specifies that On Time, No Show, and Callout are not counted in scheduled labor and cost data. It does not specify how Late In is handled, so I would avoid stating this until the product behavior is confirmed.
Shift Attendance Status is available on the Advanced operations plan.
