In this article, we will learn how to assign your shifts to Smart Groups or Tags to create your scheduler even faster than before. No need to assign a shift one by one to each of your employees, simply assign it to the relevant group or tag.
In this article we will go over the following:
How to Assign a Shift to a Smart Group or Tag
Access your scheduler and hover your mouse over any of your employees. A "+" icon will appear, click on it to create a shift. Or, click on the "Add shift" on the top right of your Job Schedule view
Create your shift. Use the search option to search for the Smart Group or Tag that should be assigned to the shift. Click select all. All employees that belong to the Smart Group or tag that you choose will be added to that shift. You can add more Smart Groups and tags by searching for another group or tag, please note that you can select the relevant users from within that list and you don't need to choose all of them.
Click save and publish to save the shift and publish it. All employees assigned to the shift will receive a push notification. Done!
Pro Tip: If you only need to assign selected users from the smart group and not all users from that smart group, you have the option to choose selected users from this group/tag. Simply choose the relevant users after typing the name of the group/tag as seen in the example below.

How to Assign a Shift to More than One User
To assign a shift to more than one user:
Access your scheduler and hover your mouse over any of your employees. A "+" icon will appear, click on it to create a shift. Or, click on the "Add shift" on the top right of your Job Schedule view
Create your shift. Search for the relevant employees and add them to this shift, or, you can search for a name of a smart group or tag and select the relevant users from that list.
Click save and publish to save the shift and publish it. All employees assigned to the shift will receive a push notification. Done!
Pro Tip: All changes that are made on a Group Shift (that was created for more than one user) will apply to all users assigned to that shift. If you wish to edit a group shift for one specific make sure to check off the "Edit for all users" button.
How to Assign a Repeating Shift to a Group of Users
To create a recurring shift, begin by creating a regular shift in the schedule.
Add the relevant shift information. To set the shift as repeating click on does not repeat and adjust the repeat settings. Take a look at how this looks below
Add the relevant users to the shift in the shift details
Click save and publish to save the shift and publish it. All employees assigned to the shift will receive a push notification. Done!

FAQs About Group Shifts
What happens if I make changes to a group shift?
The default option is to edit the Group Shift for all users that are assigned to that shift, any change that you make for the shift, from editing the hours or changing the date to adding a location, shift attachments can be edited for all users in just one click! However, if you only need to edit a shift for a specific user from the group shift, adjust the "Edit For all Users" button in the shift details and the edited short will no longer be a Group Shift.
What happens if my employees swap shifts on a group shift?
Swapping Shifts won't affect the group shift, if your employees swap shifts then the new user will be added to the group shift and the old user will leave the group shift, making it easy for you to manage and control your schedule.
Can I change one of the employees assigned to a group shift?
Yes, you can, if you want to edit a shift or delete a user from a group shift, simply adjust the "Edit for all users" button and make changes only for the relevant employee that you need.
