Now let's begin!
What are Repeating Shifts and When Should I Use Them?
Repeating shifts are shifts that are part of a series and repeat based on a selected frequency. These shifts should be used when you know a shift will occur multiple times and you know the employee who will be working that shift.
Let's take a look at a few examples:
A cleaning company, whose client needs their house cleaned every Monday and Friday. This client prefers that only Mary will clean her house. For this, I can create a repeating shift.
I have a part-time employee who can only work on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. I want these shifts to go to him.
As a security company, on the last Monday of each month, my two senior armed guards are assigned to a cash-in-transit shift.
As a delivery company, I have a client who needs to receive a delivery on the first and third Wednesday of each month.
How to Create Repeating Shifts
To create a recurring shift begin by creating a regular shift in the schedule. This can be done either from the add shift button or the + button next the relevant date and user.
Then add the relevant shift information. To set the shift as repeating click on does not repeat and adjust the repeat settings. Take a look at how this looks below:
What Settings Can Be Set for Repeating Shifts?
The repeating shift settings are entirely customizable, meaning you can set the shift to repeat as often or as little as you need. Let's take a look at the options.
First, the shift can be set to repeat, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly. Then you can how often it repeats. For example, if it's every 3 weeks, every 2 months, every 4 days, and so on.
When creating a shift that repeats every week you will need to select the days of the week the shift will repeat. These are marked in blue. For example every 2 weeks on Monday and Wednesday.
When creating a shift that repeats every month you need to select the date you would like it to appear on, or choose from the available options such as the first Sunday, the second Tuesday, and so on.
Finally, regardless of how often the shift repeats you will need to decide either after what number of occurrences, or on what date the shift will stop repeating.
How Do Recurring Shifts Look on the Schedule?
On the schedule repeating shifts can easily be identified by a loop icon.
When hovering over the icon you can easily see which shift this is in the series and how many shifts remain.
Note that adding repeating shifts is available from the Operations Hub Advanced Plan
