When setting up pay rules in Connecteam's Time Clock, you can choose between two types of Overtime Rules. The regular overtime and additional rates will appear in separate columns on the employee's timesheet.
Let's understand the difference between these types:
Regular Overtime Multiplier - This multiplies the employee's base wage (for example, x1.5) when they work beyond standard hours. So if an employee earning $20 per hour works more than 8 hours a day, they would earn $30 per hour for those overtime hours.
Additional Rate Multiplier - For special conditions like night shifts or holidays, you can add a fixed amount (like $10 per hour) or use a multiplier (x1.5). For example, you could pay night shifts with either an extra $10 per hour or a plus 1.5 times the regular rate (adding on to the regular pay rate).

Let's see how this appears in the Timesheet:
After setting up your pay rules, head over to the Timesheet tab, in the Time clock, and enter specific employees.
In the Hour Breakdown section on the right, you'll see a detailed view of hours with separate columns for overtime policies and pay rules. For all of the overtime that is set to a specific rare for example 1.5, it will be grouped into the overtime 1.5 column. However, any additional rate pay rules will appear in a column of their column, for example, holiday, weekend, night shift, etc. Hover over any overtime entry to see exactly which conditions caused the employee to enter overtime and whether it's regular overtime or an additional hour rule.
