In order to provide managers with the employee's live location, the employee would have to set the location services to always. The 'Always' enables the Breadcrumbs to register on the Time Clock as long as the employee is clocked in - even if they have closed or logged out of the application. With that being said, it's important to note that their location is always being tracked. This information however is stored locally on the employee's device and only shared with Connecteam when the employee is clocked in.

What happens if the user sets the location services to 'While using the app'?

If employees who are clocked in set their phone location services to 'While using the app', for Connecteam and turn off their device screen or close the app, it will inhibit the app from collecting location stamps until the next time the app is revisited in the foreground of their device. To be more specific the Connecteam app will only have access when the app is open on the device and being actively used.

Ultimately any other state like using a different app, closing the device's screen, closing the app, or even receiving a phone call while it is open - will block Connecteam's access to the device's location.

This will result in a straight line showing on the map - from the point the app stopped getting access - to the point where it regained it.

💡Tip: Setting the location services to 'always' can be done in the employee's phone settings.
