With the Courses feature, you can effortlessly create and distribute training or content to your team, accessible anytime and from any location. This versatile tool is ideal for a variety of uses, including onboarding, safety training, and procedural education, all accessible via your users' mobile app or desktop. The Course Objects are the materials you will use to build your course, including documents, videos, files, quizzes, links, forms, and more. This article will elaborate on each of the object types we offer, helping you build a course that suits your needs.

In this article, we will cover:

How to Add a Course Object

To add a course object, simply click on the + Add object button and select one of the following object types we offer: Video, PDF, Text, YouTube video, Quiz, File, Survey (coming soon), Link, Knowledge Base, Forms, Storyline or Audio

Once you make your selection, add the information to your object, and your course is ready, simply click on Confirm and then Save.

Types of Course Objects

Video

The video option allows you to upload an MP4 file, with a maximum size of 200MB, which your users will then be able to view by simply clicking on the play button of the video.

Please note: the video may take a few minutes to render after uploading is completed, depending on the file's size

When you upload your video, you will have access to the video settings to customize it to your needs, by simply selecting or unselecting the box next to each and then clicking on Confirm. These are the settings that will be available:

  • Users can skip ahead in the video

  • Users must watch entire video in order to mark as completed

  • Add confirmation button (with a customized text of your choice)

  • Users can download the video to their device

PDF

With this option, you can upload any PDF file you wish by either dragging and dropping it or by browsing your computer's files. The PDF's maximum capacity is 60MB.

When you upload your PDF file, you will have access to the PDF settings to customize it to your needs, by simply selecting or unselecting the box next to each and then clicking on Confirm. These are the settings that will be available:

  • Users must view all pages in order to mark as completed

  • Add confirmation button (with a customized text of your choice)

  • Users can download the file to their device

Text

This option allows you to write anything you wish and make it as long or brief as you desire.

💡Tip: you can customize your text by changing the font, making it bold, italic, underlining it, or highlighting it, for example. You can also add images, links to external sources, and tables.

Once you finish writing your text, you will have access to the text settings to customize it to your needs, by simply selecting or unselecting the box next to each and then clicking on Confirm. These are the settings that will be available:

  • For long text, users must scroll to the bottom in order to mark as completed

  • Add confirmation button (with a customized text of your choice)

  • Users can copy text to clipboard

YouTube

This object allows you to insert a YouTube link which will embed the video into your course so your users can easily watch it. In this object, you can also add a confirmation button and customize it with text.

Once you have finished creating it, simply click on Confirm.

Quiz

This option allows you to create a new quiz from scratch. If you are not familiar with how to build quizzes, you can take a look at this article. The quiz's questions can either be in Text or Image format.

Text format:

Image format:

You can add as many options as you wish for each quiz question. However, please note that users can't select multiple answers/options when completing the quiz. The multiple-selection capability is not available for quizzes. Users can only select one answer for each question. Therefore, we recommend creating an additional option titled "Answers A and B are both correct," for example.

Once you finish creating your quiz, click on the Settings button in the bottom right corner to access the quiz settings to customize it to your needs. These are the settings that will be available:

  • Quiz scoring

    • Questions will be scored equally to make the highest score of 100

    • Users will need to get a score to pass the quiz

    • Show users their final score once they finish the quiz

  • Quiz behavior in mobile app

    • Let users know if they answered correctly/incorrectly after each question

    • If the answer is incorrect show the correct answer

    • Randomize the order of the questions for each user

  • Quiz limitations

    • Limit the attempts to pass the quiz per user to

    • Limit the quiz submission by date

Once you have set it up to your liking, click on Confirm and then Create to save your new quiz.

Please note: The quiz you create within a course is not linked to the Quiz feature. Therefore, it will not appear there in the list of existing quizzes within the Quiz feature, and will only exist as a part of this specific course you are creating.

File

With the File object type, you can add any file you'd like (image, mp4, pdf, excel, etc) which will be displayed as a file to be downloaded for your users. A preview of the file will not be shown but rather the option to download it. The file's maximum capacity is 200MB.

The file settings to be selected or not are:

  • Users must download file in order to mark as completed

  • Add confirmation button (with a customized text of your choice)

Once you have added your file and selected the settings of your choice, simply click on Confirm to save the work and continue building your course.

Link

The Link object type allows you to embed various resources into your course by simply adding a link. This can include an Excel file, a Word document, a presentation, a video, and more. Users will be able to preview the content and, if permitted, share the link outside the app.

The link settings are:

  • Add confirmation button (with a customized text of your choice)

  • Users can share link outside the app

Again, once you add your link, you can click on Confirm to save the work and continue.

Knowledge Base

Just like the Quiz object type, which is also a feature within the platform, the Knowledge Base exists in a similar manner. It's important to note that any knowledge base you create within a course will not be listed among the Knowledge Base feature directly; instead, it will only exist within that specific course.

Using this object type, you can create a course-specific knowledge base. Start by giving it a relevant name, then proceed to build your base. If you are unfamiliar with this feature, read this article for a detailed overview of how it works. To create your in-course knowledge base, begin by creating folders and adding the necessary files to each one.

Inside a folder, you can add a folder, text, a link, and files. Click on Save once you have created your knowledge base to continue building your course.

Forms

Just like Quizzes and Knowledge Bases, Forms exist both as a standalone feature and as an object within a course. The distinction lies in how Forms behave compared to Quizzes and Knowledge Bases: you have the option to either create a new form or access one of your existing templates. If you want to create a new form within this course and also save it for future use elsewhere in the platform, you can click on Save as template. If you are unfamiliar with how to create a Form, you can read this article to learn more!

You can also access the form settings to adjust it according to your needs, click on Confirm and then Save.

Storyline

The Storyline object type allows you to upload a SCORM file containing a presentation that was prepared by you on an external provider and it can only be uploaded as a zip file. Loading the zip file can take several minutes, depending on the size of the storyline. Once the zip file has been uploaded, select the option index_lms.html in the "Select player type" section and then click on Confirm.

💡Tip: If you are looking for users to view the storyline object on their mobile apps, the ideal size is of 375x700 px so that the screen will not be cut off on the vast majority of devices. If you are looking for users to view it on their desktops, the ideal size is 900x1440 px.

Audio

This object type will allow you to add an audio file, with a maximum size of 200MB, and have it embedded into your course for the user to easily listen to it whenever needed.

The audio setting that can be added is a confirmation button (with a customized text of your choice). Once you have added it successfully, simply click on Confirm.
