Translating Messages in the Chat

Keep conversations moving even when teammates communicate in different languages

Connecteam Chat can now automatically detect messages written in a different language than your app language and let you instantly translate them directly inside the conversation. There’s no need to copy messages into external translation tools or switch between apps.

Translations appear in place within the chat, making it easier to follow conversations and communicate across multilingual teams.


How to Translate a Message

When Connecteam detects that a message is written in a different language than your app language, a Translate option becomes available on the message.

On Desktop

  1. Hover over the message.

  2. Click the Translate icon next to the reply button.


To switch back to the original message:

  • Click the translation icon again, or

  • Click See Original.


On Mobile

  1. Press and hold the message.

  2. Tap Translate.


To view the original message again:

  1. Tap See Original, or

  2. Press and hold the message again and tap See Original from the menu


How Language Detection Works

Desktop

On desktop, translations are based on the language settings configured for the Connecteam account.

Mobile

On mobile, translations are based on the language settings configured on the device.


Manage Translation Permissions

Admins can control whether users are able to translate messages in Connecteam Chat.

To manage translation permissions:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Open the Translation tab

  3. Toggle message translation On or Off

When enabled, users will be able to translate supported messages directly inside chat conversations. When disabled, the translation option will no longer appear in chat messages.


Translating Messages is available from the Expert Plan on the Communications hub
