Keep an additional record of a chat by exporting its history

Connecteam’s chat is your way to create an efficient communication center with your employees. The chat allows users to effortlessly share media and files and it’s connected to almost any feature in the system making it easy to chat with anyone anywhere! Like most things in Connecteam, you can also export the chat history.

In this article, we will show you how to do just that.

Who Can Export a Chat?

Since exporting data from within the system is a sensitive matter, the ability to export the chat is only available in certain circumstances, these are:

  • One-on-one chat- every admin can export his/her private conversations.

  • Admins of team Chats & Channels.

  • Admins of the “manage teams and channel tab” can export every team chat/channel that they are an admin on.

Note that you will not be able to export the chat history of individual chats between two employees.

How to Export Chat History

To export a chat navigate to the chat feature and access the relevant individual chat, team chat, or channel. Select the three buttons in the top right-hand corner and click on export chat. Take a look at how this will look below.

A CSV file will be downloaded. You will be able to see the history of each message sent, who sent the message, the date and time it was sent, the type of message sent, and the exact text included. take a look at how this looks below.
