If your company has different employee types, such as Contractors vs. Employees, Full-Time vs. Part-Time, or Hourly vs. Salaried, you can now easily separate their regular hours by creating (separate policies for each group, with it's own pay rules) multiple Regular Pay Rules in Connecteam. This allows you to segmentize standard (regular) hours across different employee groups or pay policies - without affecting your overtime or special rate rules.

To create multiple regular rules, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Users page from the left sidebar and enter the Company policies on the top right.

  2. Enter the Overtime & Pay rules tab and click Manage pay rules.

  3. By default, you will see one Regular pay rule. You'll want to rename it, for example 'Regular - Full Time', so you can distinguish it from additional regular-type rules. To do so, click on the three dots and select Edit.

  4. Finally, create an additional regular rule. Under Rule type, select regular.

  5. After creating the new rule, make sure to head to the Policies tab and assign the rule to the corresponding policy, along with other overtime & pay rule policies. For example, your 'Regular Part Time Rule' needs to be added to your 'Part Time Employees' policy. To learn more about company wide policies make sure to check out this article!

Some payroll setups require regular hours to be tracked and exported separately by specific pay rules or rates. This enhancement enables you to:

  • Create and associate multiple Regular Pay Rules across policies.

  • Export timesheet data with a clear breakdown per rule.

  • Seamlessly integrate with third-party payroll systems while maintaining accuracy.

For example, in Australia, employees may be covered under different awards or classifications. Employee A might fall under a First-Year Construction Worker rate, while Employee B falls under a Fifth-Year Construction Worker rate. Each classification has unique regular pay terms and now, you can easily reflect that setup in Connecteam.

Once configured, each regular pay rule will appear in a separate column in the timesheets tab and in the payroll totals export:

If you're using one of our payroll integrations, you'll also be able to match each Regular-type rule with its corresponding category in your payroll software:
