In most cases, users will be able to reply to any message from both the desktop and mobile application However, there are two exceptions, these are if the message is in a Channel and if the private conversation is locked.
Case 1: Chat Locking
When a chat is locked, nobody can send messages to the chat. This means that neither side can share media and text in the conversation, nor can they use any Quick Actions. Users are also unable to forward messages to a locked conversation.

Case 2: Channels
A channel is a one-way communication with your employees. If you want to communicate a message to a group of users without anyone being able to respond this option is for you! A channel ensures you can effectively communicate with your users without the chat becoming flooded for you and your users.

Replying to a Message on the Desktop:
For a user to be able to reply to a message on any Chat (Team Chat/Private Conversations) they will need to click on the arrow icon next to the message and select 'reply' or double-click on the arrow icon next to the message.
For example, below is a Team Chat for the New York Location. To reply to Cam's message, select the arrow icon to the right and select "Reply".
💡Tip: Team chats can also be created by your employees if permitted to do so in the Team chat settings.
Another example is in a Private Chat with Cam. By double clicking the arrow icon next to the message you can easily reply directly to the same message.
Replying to a Message on the Mobile App:
To replay to a private or Team Chat message on your mobile app
1. Enter the Chat
2. Press on the message you would like to reply to until a pop-up appears on your screen
3. Select the option "Reply"
For example, in the video below I would like to reply to Cam's last message.
