Understanding why you can’t edit manager notes in the Time Clock

Are you experiencing any issues with editing "Manager Notes" in the timesheets?   Let's review some scenarios that might help you resolve the issue.


The types of issues you might encounter are:

Scenario 1: You Have Already Approved the Timesheet

Once you approve an employee’s timesheet, you won’t be able to edit the Manager Notes or any other information. To make changes, click on the three dots next to the Approve button and select Reopen, this will unlock the timesheet for editing.

Scenario 2: Your Dealing With a Locked Day(s) in the Timesheet

If an Admin has locked the day, it will prevent any changes, including edits to the Manager Notes. You can unlock it in two ways:

  1. Hover over the Lock icon on the left side of the entry, click it, and reopen the day to enable changes.

  2. You can also unlock days in bulk using the Quick Actions menu and then edit the Manager Notes directly in the timesheet.

Scenario 3: You Have Employees Working Overnight Shifts

To edit Manager Notes for an employee with an overnight shift, you’ll need to make changes on the day the shift begins. Overnight shifts can be identified by a moon icon, if you see a moon icon in the manager fields section on the end date, you won't be able to add notes there. Simply hover over the slot beneath the moon icon, and make your updates.
