Time Clock FAQs

No, employees can always edit their timesheets for shifts they have worked or clocked in to. This allows them to correct any missed clock-ins or forgotten break punches when mistakes happen. This allows employees to verify their timesheets for accuracy before payroll minimizes back-and-forth communication and streamlines the process for employees and managers.

However, here are a few ways to control timesheet editing by your employees:

Option 1: Require Admin Approval For Timesheet Edits

First, make sure that any changes to employees' timesheets require Admin approval. This way, the admin will only have to approve changes rather than manually correct each timesheet.

Head to the Time Clock settings > select the Clock In & Out tab > under Timesheet Edits, you’ll find the option 'Users can edit and delete shifts and breaks from timesheet' > check 'Requires admin approval'

Please Note: Unchecking 'Requires admin approval' gives employees full control over their timesheet edits without supervision, so make sure it stays checked.

Option 2: Lock Your Employees' Timesheets

Admins can lock multiple timesheet days, or an individual day after reviewing and approving hours for payroll. Locked days appear with a lock icon and cannot be edited by employees. Only admins with the relevant permissions can unlock these days.

Here's how to lock employees' timesheets:

  1. Go to the Timesheets tab, within the Time Clock feature, and access the relevant employees' timesheets.

  2. To lock specific days, simply hover above the relevant day, a lock symbol will appear and you'll be able to lock that day.

  3. If you would like to lock more than one day at once, you can lock them in bulk. Simply select a few days, use the Actions menu at the bottom, and click on Lock.
