Connecteam's Time Clock offers users the option to customize notifications and receive reminders. In this article, we'll review what time clock notifications and reminders are, and understand the difference between them.
Time Clock Notifications
Time Clock notifications consist of mobile push, web push, or emails sent when employees or admins take certain actions in the Time Clock features. These consist of employee activities such as adding or editing shifts, getting auto-clocked out, or when requests are pending approval. For admins, this can be when a fellow admin approves or declines a shift. The types of notifications that can be sent (mobile, web, or email) depend on if the user is an admin or a regular user.
Notification settings can be adjusted from every user's mobile app. You can choose to enable/turn on or disable/turn off notifications, specify which days notifications should be active, or even choose when to mute them.

Time Clock Reminders
Time Clock reminders are push notifications that your employees will receive on their smartphones. Unlike notifications, reminders cannot be disabled on employee devices as they serve a separate purpose - to remind employees rather than to notify them that a certain action has been taken. In addition, reminders are sent to all users assigned to the Time Clock.
How to Set Up Reminders
To activate the reminders, simply access the Time Clock settings, click on the Reminders tab, and select when you want your employees to receive reminders to clock in and out or when they should start and return from breaks. Click Save Changes when you finish.
The 'Reminders active by days' option lets you choose specific working days for notifications, helping you avoid sending unnecessary weekend reminders to your team.

The Different Types of Reminders
After we've learned the basics of setting up our Time Clock Reminders, let's cover the different reminders.
Remind users to clock in at a certain hour or to clock out at a certain hour.
Send users a reminder a set time before their scheduled break.
Send users a reminder to end their break.
Remind users when they have exceeded their daily limit, in order to ensure employees are not working longer than they should.
At the moment, reminders are sent to all users at certain hours, regardless if they have a shift scheduled or not. We have a system to track votes on new features to better fit our roadmap to our clients' needs. You are welcome to vote for the option to have a setting for reminders based on scheduled shift hours, so if and when it is developed, you will get notified directly by email!
