Enhance your app's feed using custom publishers to publish assets and content to your users

A Custom Publisher allows you to publish assets and content, such as Updates, Rewards, Surveys, and more, to your app's feed on behalf of another entity rather than from your admin profile. For example, you can publish on behalf of the Company, the HR Department, the Marketing Team, the Board of Directors, or any other custom publisher you create.

How to Set Up Your Custom Publishers

To begin publishing assets and content to your feed using a custom publisher, you will need to activate the capability and set it up, so take a look at the following steps to learn how!

  1. Access your account's general settings by clicking on your avatar/name on the top right corner

  2. Select Settings and navigate to the Feed settings tab

  3. Then you can click on Add Publisher and customize it

    1. Create the publisher name

    2. Click on the + icon to add an image to the publisher

    3. Decide which smart groups or users will be able to use the custom publisher

Once you've set it up to your liking, click on Confirm and then on Save Changes

Please note: only owners can add and edit custom publishers.

Suppose you've made any mistakes in setting up the custom publisher and wish to edit its name, profile image, or assignments, or simply want to delete it. In that case, you can easily do so by hovering over the custom publisher and clicking either the edit icon or the trash icon that appears. Once your changes or deletion is completed, remember to click on Save Changes.

How to Publish Content Using Your Custom Publishers

Updates

To use your custom publishers when publishing new updates on the app's feed, simply edit an existing update or create a new one from scratch. If you are not familiar with the Updates feature, feel free to take a look at this article explaining all about it. In the example below, we have chosen to create a new update. Follow these steps to do the same:

  1. Access the Updates feature from the left sidebar

  2. Click on + Add new

  3. Choose whether you wish to Start from scratch or Use a template

  4. Go through each step of the creation process until you reach the Publish Settings section

  5. Make sure to select the box next to the option Show on feed and then select which custom publisher you wish to publish this new update you are creating. The option to be shown on the feed by the Company will always exist as an option by default.

    💡Tip: when you are choosing the publisher, you can click on Edit list to be redirected to the general settings and edit your custom publishers. You can also add the Updates to one of your feed topics.

  6. Then click on Confirm to publish it

Rewards

You can use your custom publishers on the Rewards feature when sending tokens to users. Follow these steps to learn how:

  1. Access the Rewards feature from the left sidebar

  2. Click on the Send Tokens button on the top right

  3. Select which user/s you wish to send tokens to and click on Next to access the Amount tab

  4. In the Amount tab, you will see the option Tokens will be sent from and be able to choose one of your custom publishers.

  5. Then click on Send and then on Close

Once you send the tokens, the user will view them on their feed as follows:

Recognitions

You can use your custom publishers on the Recognitions feature when sending special recognitions to users. Follow these steps to learn how:

  1. Access the Recognition feature from the left sidebar

  2. Click on the Send recognition button on the top right

  3. Select which user/s you wish to send the recognition to and click on Next to access the Create Recognition tab

  4. In the Create Recognition tab, you will see the option Recognition will be sent from and be able to choose one of your custom publishers.

  5. Then continue with the process of creation by clicking on Next Steps and then click on Send recognition

Once you send the recognition, the user will view it on their feed as follows:

Celebrations

You can use your custom publishers in the Celebrations feature to attach messages to birthdays or work anniversaries and ensure they are sent by one of the publishers. Follow these steps to learn how:

  1. Access the Celebrations feature from the left sidebar.

  2. To select the specific users, you have two options:

    1. From the Tomorrow and Today section: Click on the user's profile picture, then select Attach a message

    2. From the Past and Upcoming Celebrations section: Click on the Attach a message option under the Message column, or, click anywhere on the user's line, and then select Attach a message

  3. In the new modal that opens on the right side, you will see the option Message will be sent from, where you can select your custom publisher.

  4. Write the personalized message and click Save Message

Once you send the message on the celebration, the user will view it on their feed as follows:
