Surveys are a powerful and efficient tool for gathering insights from your company's employees. They allow you to collect valuable information on various topics, from reviews on managers and measuring employee satisfaction to feedback on company events and trips. Survey Insights is an advanced tool that analyzes all the responses collected from your survey, providing a comprehensive overview of employee feedback. By offering summaries and averages of the answers, survey insights help you understand your workforce's collective opinions and trends.

Let's take a closer look at how this works!

In this article, we'll cover:

How to Access the Survey Insights

To access the survey insights:

  1. Access the Survey feature from the left sidebar

  2. Click on the specific survey you wish to view the insights for

  3. Then scroll down until you reach the section Entries Overview

  4. That's it - you are now looking at the survey insights!

Please note: you can also view each user's entries by clicking the Show Entries button on the top.

Understanding the Survey Insights

As you scroll down to reach the detailed insights, you will encounter some basic insights that detail the percentage of how many users completed the survey out of the total and how many have not started it yet, followed by the actual list of users. You can see if their status is "Completed" or "Not Started" and how many entries they've made.

Now, let's begin to analyze the Entries Overview section of the survey, where you will be able to see the advanced insights gathered for each of the survey fields. A survey allows you to create three types of fields: dropdowns, open-ended fields, and ratings. Let's explore how each of these fields is displayed in Survey Insights.

Dropdown

The insights from the dropdown field of a survey will display each option within the dropdown and the percentage of users who selected each one. For example, consider the question "Does your manager effectively convey important information?" with three possible answers. The option "Depends" received 50% of the responses, "Yes" got 33%, and "No" got 17%. Additionally, in the top right corner, you can see the number of users who have answered the question so far out of the total.

💡Tip: Regardless of the order in which the answers were listed when creating the survey, Survey Insights will display the answers in order of popularity, with the most popular at the top and the least popular at the bottom.

Open Ended

The insights from the open-ended field of a survey will display the answers written by users from the most recent entries sent. Take the example below for the question "In what ways does your supervisor make your responsibilities easier or harder?". By clicking on the arrows from the far right side, you can view the most recent responses.

💡Tip: Click on the Show All button to quickly access the Show Entries modal and see all written responses for the open-ended field, as illustrated below.

Rating

The insights from the rating field of a survey will display the rating scale created and show the average from all answers. Take the example below for the question "How engaged is your manager with you and your team?", where the average response was very much in the middle.

💡Tip: Hover over each rating scale to view its average selection.
