We know that as a manager, a promotion of an employee is a celebration but might also contain some bureaucratic steps that need to be taken.

That’s why we thought to help you out and create 5 steps you can do when a promotion occurs in your company, using Connecteam:

  1. Send a Recognition to your employee to acknowledge his/ her promotion.

  2. Send a present to your employee using the Rewards feature.

  3. Change your employee’s Pay Rate information if you gave them a pay raise.

🤝 Step 1: Send a Recognition to your employee to acknowledge his/ her promotion and good job!

Take the time to recognize your employee's promotion and achievements by sending him/her a recognition badge using the Recognition feature.

Recognizing your employees' accomplishments is very important because it boosts self-confidence, and increases productivity and loyalty to the company, leading to potential growth and long employment within the company.

Sending a recognition is super easy and can be done in a few clicks, but for your employee, it will mean the world! Just imagine how nice it would be for him/ her to open their app and receive a nice recognition and personal message from you.

🎁 Step 2: Send a present to your employee using the Rewards feature, to celebrate his promotion.

A promotion is a cause for celebration and with any celebration comes a present!

The rewards feature is a great way to show your appreciation and recognition of your employee’s promotion and hard work. This is a way to provide a present to your employees and to motivate their work, in the form of Tokens, which can be used to purchase gift cards.

Rewarding your employees will increase employee engagement and will help to create a more positive overall workplace.

💵 Step 3: Change your employee’s pay rate information if you gave them a pay raise.

In most cases, with an employee promotion comes a salary increase. So your next step will be to update your employee's salary in Connecteam’s Pay Rate section.

In the Pay Rate section in the User tab, you can set the rate at which each user in your company is paid. Not only that, but you can see the exact salary they should be getting paid. Updating your employee's pay rates will save you a lot of time that you used to spend on calculating their exact salary for payroll and it will make your payroll flawlessly.

In just a few clicks you can update your employee’s pay rate, set if it is an hourly, monthly, or yearly salary, and enable the pay rate to show in the Time Clock feature.

🕰️ Step 4: Change your employee’s Custom Field on the user page and check the updated information on the Timeline feature.

After an employee moved to a new position or got a promotion to a new role, we advise you to change their Custom field on the user tab. This action will help you identify and group your workforce in a more efficient way.

In this case, you might change users’ custom fields such as their positions, team, or direct manager.

After updating the relevant Custom fields, the information will be automatically updated and stored in the Timeline feature.

The Timeline feature is a built-in capability that automatically records events and important milestones related to your users. So now, you can easily keep track of your users progress, such as their previous department, team, position and pay rate history, and more.

🧑🏻‍💻 Step 5: Promote your user to become an admin/ owner and change his/ her manager permissions on Connecteam’s platform.

With a new role comes great responsibilities!

Now that your employee moved up the ladder, you may wish to promote him to an administrator. You can easily promote your users to become an admin or owners and therefore, they will have more access and control over the different features and the company’s day-to-day management.
